![]() ![]() (I plan on getting a ZoneAlarm Pro subscription soon because I'm so satisfied. My always-on always-networked laptop never got anything and there's no slowdown at all. I use the free ZoneAlarm Firewall which monitors incoming and outgoing packets and data transfer, and I've never had any problems at all with this. Doesn't feel too good when that e-mail virus floating around which destroys your hard drive's zero sector (a fatal shot) can pass through your "protection." (I didn't get this one, thankfully, just a bunch of others) I've found the same type things with McAfee, just not quite as frequent. Several incidents where viruses had gotten through and did something or other on my computers, from modifying the home page to doing a high amount of damage to data requiring an OS reinstallation. (As in I work with Celeron M laptops whose startup times have gone from around 2 minutes or so to at least 5, and typically a good bit more.)
